Hailey's Bridals

Last Thursday I shot Hailey's bridals down at her farm in Bluffdale. This was seriously the most fun I've had shooting EVER. The best part was working with two great friends, Hailey (the bride) and Tiff (the make-up artist). Hailey was so much fun to work with and I think she looks absolutely stunning in her gorgeous dress. We had so many ideas, and got to most of them, but it would have been nice to have 3 more hours of daylight to work with :) I had the hardest time picking favorites, but here they are. Love you Hailey and Tiff! Enjoy!

Baby Alex

I had the pleasure of photographing baby Alex last week :) He is my friend Janie's sweet little boy and he did so well for his first shoot. He was wide awake and happy for the first part of the shoot and then took a little nap for the rest. Congrats Janie! He is such a handsome guy! Baby Harper

One of my best friends, Cheree, had her baby on July 24th. Meet Harper, the newest addition to the Stout family. Harper is so sweet and perfect. I fell in love with her the second I saw her. The Ellsworth Family

I had a great time photographing The Ellsworth Family at Brighton after The Mayer Family's session. Adrienne and Paul are siblings, so we took care of both families in one morning. The Ellsworths were really fun to work with, it's not that often that I get to photograph families with kids that aren't my own kids age... it's so much easier! In July I photographed The Mayer Family up at Silver Lake at Brighton. It was a beautiful walk around the lake and we found some gorgeous spots to shoot at. Rhodes Family

I took my sister-in-law's family photos in May. She kept politely reminding me (ahem) that I hadn't done a blog post from their shoot. SO HERE IT IS SHANNON :) The busier my life gets, the harder it is for me to maintain this blog, but I'm working on it.

The Rhodes are an awesome family. It has been amazing watching these kids grow up over the years (I met Mike when James, the oldest boy, was 5). Love these guys so much. Here are some faves from their family photos.

Carrie and Jason

I shot Carrie and Jason's wedding in Park City in the beginning of March. They decided to get married here while on vacation. The ceremony was in the backyard of a home way up on the mountain, it was gorgeous. Carrie and Jason were adorable together, with their matching ski outfits and beanies. I had a great time shooting their little ceremony, despite the snow and bright sunshine. Here are some favorite images from Carrie and Jason's wedding.

Liz and Sam: Wedding @ The Canyons Resort

In February I photographed Liz and Sam's wedding. It was perfect. The ceremony was up on one of the trails at The Canyons Resort in Park City. It was a beautiful February day up on the mountain. The guests consisted of the bride and grooms families, all from out of state. It was such a pleasure to meet and hang out with these folks for a couple of hours. Valentines Cookies

Last week the kids wanted to make Valentines Day Cookies "for their friends". (They ate all of them but a few that we took to Trevor's family and one for each of their teachers). Basically I made the cookies and frosted them and the boys dumped sprinkles all over them. :) Happy Valentines.

Since it's such a nasty, cold, windy day outside we are being creative inside. Frankie probably has no idea what to think of these strange children of mine. You might think you were tripping if you saw this strange creature too, eh? Ha ha. We tried putting the glasses on our doggie, but he didn't want anything to do with them. I guess we'll just continue making robots out of paper shreds and cereal boxes. And Frank will continue to lay around on my newly cleaned rug. :) Oh well, what are ya gonna do?

So... it's been on my "to do" list to catch up on my blog EVERY week since my last post. And guess what. Somehow between shooting weddings and family portraits, working part time photographing newborns at the hospital, spending time with my fam, AND the holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries that we have in nov/dec, it has been neglected. Until now. Initiating project catch-up! I'll start by posting a cute photo of my new dog, Frankie (a.k.a Dirty Frank, Frankfurter, Frankie Frankster, Frankie the Pig) that we adopted from the Humane Society yesterday. I feel like he's my new baby. I didn't believe I could feel this way about a dog until now. But seriously, look at him... cutest dog ever, eh?

In August, Tiff and I took Jenny, Meagan, and Courtney downtown for a shoot. Tiff did all of the hair and makeup, and I LOVED it. All the girls looked great. We wandered to a few spots in the industrial area downtown, and only got harassed (by cops, as well as other people) a few times. Thanks girls! Let's do this again soon. Here are some of my faves.

Changedown Dances

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of attending "Bridging", a dance performance that my good friend Nanny was in. There were four different pieces, and they were all really amazing. I took so many images and sort of set the project aside, because I was overwhelmed by it. So finally, I am posting some of my favorite images from the performance. Chantal Downing of Changedown Dances choreographed and directed the pieces. I was so impressed. The images were shot during the actual performance, and in low light. They really show movement, which I find really interesting. Enjoy!

On Tuesday I shot Andrew and Kelly's engagement photos. They are super cute together and I had a great time photographing them. I've known Andrew for a while (he's my sister-in-law's brother), so I was aware before the shoot that goofiness would ensue. And it certainly did. Maren's Bridals

Last Friday I had the pleasure of photographing Maren's bridal portraits. Let me just tell you, she is a DOLL. I just couldn't stop smiling (or taking photos, for that matter). Maren has stunning eyes and beautiful long dark hair, and to top it all off, she is very expressive. Some of my favorite shots are the more serious ones.... she killed it. We spent a good couple of hours at the Salt Lake City Library, which is fun to photograph on it's own because of the fantastic architecture. I've picked some of my favorites, and there are a ton. Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of meeting Michelle Scott and her family and taking their photos. We met at Murray park, and started with her children. They were so much fun! Their youngest son was so adorable and just smiled and made silly faces the entire time. We later met up with the rest of Michelle's family for a group photo. My nephew Peter is growing like crazy. He can walk now.... which means trouble. I walked into Trevor's house yesterday to find little Pete climbing up into this rocking chair (which scared me to death). He climbed up and down the chair and even STOOD on it. Also very scary. I just knew he was gonna take a nasty spill. But he didn't. So I handed him the remote and we took some photos. Isn't he the stinkin' cutest thing you've ever seen? We love you Peter!

Today is my niece Grace's 6th birthday. Yesterday we took her out for a shoot in her pretty dress that was a gift from her mom. I had a blast photographing my cute Gracie. I can't believe how old she is getting. I remember when she was a baby like it was yesterday. Happy Birthday sweetie! I love you!

Erin and Jaymon: July 3, 2009

On July 3, Erin and Jaymon were married at the Cottonwood Market Street Grill. It was a perfect day for a wedding. The weather was beautiful, as was the location. The ceremony went perfectly and Erin and Jaymon were so sweet together. It was really touching to see the families together and to see how happy everyone was. The music played by Erin's family during the ceremony and reception was exceptional. And I loved hearing Alyssa's (Erin's sister) toast. Congrats to Erin and Jaymon! Fishing at the Hatchery

In June we decided to go fishing with Mike's parents and his niece, Maren, up at the Fish Hatchery in Ogden. I wasn't sure how the boys would react to catching a fish... sometimes they are pretty scared of ANY animal, no matter the size. It was hilarious to watch them with their Grandpa Simpson. Raleigh would take off running whenever he caught a fish. Crew, on the other hand, would stand and hold his fish up with pride, and then jump and get nervous when the fish would move around on the hook. It was a really fun day, and although they didn't learn much about REAL fishing, we caught a whole bunch of fish and had a blast.

Whiting Family

I photographed the Whiting Family at This is the Place Heritage Park a couple of weeks ago. It rained all day prior to the shoot, but we were lucky enough to have beautiful skies and nice weather. This was the first time I've ever shot at This is the Place, and it worked out great. There were several different spots that we used, all in one small area of the park. Erin's Bridals

I was really excited to shoot Erin's bridals because she said she wanted something out of the ordinary. We headed out to one of my favorite spots (as seen in several other posts) at the Great Salt Lake early (5:30) Sunday morning. Despite the rain, we got some great shots. I love how natural everything felt, with Erin's hair and dress blowing in the wind. We also got some cool shots inside the graffiti building as well. Antelope Island Adventures

Let me just start off by saying that, as much as I complain about Utah, I truly do live in an amazing place. It is incredibly beautiful and diverse. For example, in some of the shots below, at first glance you'll notice a sort of desert landscape, but if you take a closer look you can see huge, beautiful, snowcapped mountains in the background. I am often overwhelmed by the views that I come across in this beautiful state. Anyway...

A couple of weeks ago, Mike and I took the kids for a little trip up to Antelope Island. We set out to see some wildlife (antelope and buffalo). When we first pulled up to the beach, we saw one antelope right away. We didn't have much luck spotting any buffalo, but eventually found one... I was too scared to get very close. Then as we were driving over to the beach to spend the afternoon in the water, I saw a coyote wandering around and had to get a few shots of him. Wildlife... check.

For those of you who have never been to Antelope Island, or even the Great Salt Lake, the beach and the water are pretty interesting. It is extremely shallow in many spots, especially at AI. You can wander out for what seems like miles and the water is still only up to your knees. This is great for the kids. The not so great part is that it is pretty nasty (bugs, mosquitos, strange smells). My kids didn't seem to mind the bugs, and although I got eaten alive, I had a good time as well. Last Day of Preschool

Just wanted to post a few shots from Crew's last day of preschool. The Roosevelt Elementary Preschool had lunch and a program at Fitts Park. Crew had a blast spending one last day with all of his buddies. Can't wait until Kindergarten next year. Thanks Miss Jamie and Miss Pat for another great year!

Crew's 5th Birthday Party

A couple of weekends ago we celebrated Crew's 5th birthday with a creepy crawly party. We had the nice folks from "Scales and Tails" come to the party with some snakes and a tarantula. The kids all had fun, and it was cool to see them all stand in line and hold the big python. Thanks to all who came to celebrate with us! Here are some fave images from the party.
